Winter Wonderland

Went to Brevard NC yesterday to brave the elements and shoot little sis' senior portraits. We tracked through the snow for a couple of hours but the finished product was well worth it.

Stepping it up

I've been sitting here this morning and looking over work by other photographers across the globe, and have realized that I need to step my game up. Not that I feel as though my work is horrible, just that I have seen so many great images from so many great photographers and it has influenced me to work even harder then I already do. I'm mainly speaking from a fine art point of view. I realize now that I have been blinded as of late from working on my fine art work, due to the overwhelming work flow from my commercial work. I'm working hard to finish up some commercial shoots, so I can get back to what I love most. It's no wonder my mood has been a little off recently, no fine art work makes Lance a dull boy!

"My Love Coming to Be"

I found her finally,
The love that loves and wants to be with me.

The one that embraces me for me,
and shares similar passions does she.

With our minds tangled with all that is happy,
let our love be overwhelming.

To all that may not agree,
I know your heart speaks true envy.

This is the end of my searching,
for the one that is to be with me.

And for my love I say to thee,
thank you for letting our love come to be.

"Once More Aura"

Let me look into your soul,
and feed on all that is and will be.
May I tear into your heart,
and come out being a better me.

Bring that seductive beauty to the forefront,
and wrap it through and around my being.
I will stand right here,
for you and always waiting.

Flash my eyes forever,
with your mighty addictive core.
And when you do so,
always leave me thirsting for more.

I believe that in you,
I will find my greatest position.
A calm alluring peace,
that will be obvious beyond mention.

Allow me to breathe in,
and smell your entire aura.
Then taste your delicate presence,
and win me once more over.

"Write Till the End"

I've spent all my time scratching this page,
with a half empty pen,
and nothing to really say.

Sometimes of love,
and sometimes with sadness,
others of bad luck and pure dismay.

I write of nothing,
maybe sometimes of something,
others of nowhere for my heart to lay.

And more times then not,
I write of emotions and trust,
or how it all went away.

I'll put down my feelings,
how you murdered them,
and how they change from day to day.

Rambling and Babbling,
for long lines of time,
and then continuing if I may.

I'll scribble of denial,
and my cold pressed heartache,
all which I experienced just yesterday.

Thoughts of how I loved her,
and why I wept last night,
but really it's all hearsay.

I'll place on paper,
all my beautiful melancholy,
for you and all to display.

Forever a moving quill,
will my fingers still push,
until my bones begin their decay.

Website update

I have updated some images on the website. It was a little overdue for a face lift. I've currently been working on getting the site back linked in as many places as possible, which has been very trying on my nerves as of late. But the hard work will pay off very soon. I can feel it.

Getting close to my goal.

The goal was to have 25 "Abstraction on Beauty" images finished for the book competition in July. I am at 20 a the moment, but already have 2 more schedule over the next 3 days. So I just need 3 more to make my 25. I'm very excited about the future of the series, and the possibility of winning the competition, and what that would do for the series. Ultimately the overall goal is to create 100 and have it picked up by a publishing company to put together a book that would be sold nation wide. I want to thank everyone for all of thier support, and especially my models that have donated there time and Beauty to this project. All of the images can be view at my fine art site on the "Abstraction on Beauty" page. http://www.imagerybylaw.com/aob.html

Profile pic for the book.

I had to do it. I wanted to have a profile pic with one of the models to include on the inside of the book, when I put it together. I promise it was not an ego thing. Although, she does make me look better.

"Blind Eye"

I've been working hard lately to generate more and more Abstraction on Beauty series images. this is one that was taken last week. I believe that I will now name each image instead of just numbering them. I've battled back and forth on this decision, but I'm sure now that the images will need their own titles. The title for this image will be "Blind Eye". I still have to go back and title them all. I should have most of them posted on the fine art site very shortly. www.imagerybylaw.com

#2 of Abstraction on Beauty

This is "#2" of the "Abstraction on Beauty" series. There were several images from the shoot that I liked for #2, but I believe that this one is the final decision. I'm looking forward to continuing this project with great enthusiasm.

Abstraction on Beauty

This is #1 of the new series that I plan to continue. Abstraction on Beauty is a project that I have derived from a similar series of images that I took in college. But now the images are stronger and have more meaning then they once did. As of now the new series will be an ongoing project, and may take several turns in the future.

Holy Trinity Church Wedding

Jack and Jessica were married this weekend at the Holy Trinity Church in Greenville S.C., this past Saturday. They were a great couple to work for, we had a wonderful time and made some great shots. Congrats to you both and may your life be filled with joy and laughter.

Groom at Holy Trinity

Jack is the lucky guy that married the beautiful Jessica this past weekend. I want to take the chance to wish Jack much luck and love as he prepares to leave for Iraq, now that he has finished Ranger training. Come home safe Jack.

Bride at Holy Trinity

Jessica is a beautiful bride that I photographed this weekend at the Holy Trinity Church in Greenville S.C. this past Sat. There are many wonderful images from the shoot, and it made for a hard decision of what to post.

A Friday Head Shot

This is Amanda, whom I've had the pleasure of knowing for the last 2 years. Amanda recently danced with Carolina Ballet Theater, before taking off to Clemson University. She is a very talented dancer and actress. Amanda approached me about photographing her head shot for an audition for a local production of Cinderella, along with here application to the NYU drama program. I wish her all the best. Go break a leg Amanda.
Head Shots are one of the most complicated images that a photographer can shoot. You have to portray so much, in such a simple image. Ultimately, it all comes down to the subject. If the subject is good, the images are good. And as you can see Amanda makes for a great subject.

A Young Angel

I photographed the Nutcracker production held by the Carolina Ballet Theater in Dec. 2008, and this is one of my favorite images taken from the production. Although dance is very challenging to photograph, it has been such a great learning period for me. It has also inspired me in may artistic ways. I plan to do a series of paintings based on images that I have collected from productions by CBT.

B-Dub

I made my brother (Brad) sit for this quick portrait, while we walked the streets of Charleston S.C. during our Christmas break. This old door made a great back drop and Brad makes a great subject.

Family on the Beach

This is my brother Brad on the beach in Charleston S.C., and my mother is actually in the back ground. I purposely over exposed the image and them manipulated the image in Aperture to come up with this final product. Just wanted to try something new, and I'm pleased with the outcome. I always enjoy trying new techniques and processes, it keeps me interested.

Low Tide

This is an image that I shot in Charleston S.C. during Christmas. There were people on the beach and surfers in the water. I spent Christmas with my mother, stepfather, brother and sister in Charleston this year. It was so nice to get a way for the holidays and really do very little. The weather was great and honestly I didn't want to come home.
